Elite Dangerous: Eagle

The Eagle is a proven combat fighter with a distinguished history. It is one of the smallest fighters available with jump capability. It has the distinction of being the only ship that has been so successful versions have been built for both the Federation and Imperial navies. This role has been superseded by the respective navies' short range fighter programmes, but the Eagle still sees extensive service across human space. Core Dynamics are no longer building these ships, but do still provide parts and servicing due to their popularity.

Eagle is one of the most agile ships in the game. It has maximum of 14 tonnes cargo bay (without shields) and maximum jump range around 25 LY.

Biggest problem for eagle is it's hull - it feels like it is made from paper so the moment eagle loses shields it's most likely destroyed. Shields are on par with Hauler and Adder and overall Eagle is just smallest, cheapest and weakest fighter in the game. As soon as you can afford Viper or Cobra (even considering it's multi-purpose ship) with proper upgrades you should switch to it and forget about Eagle.

3 small hardpoints are just not enough, small weapons will receive damage penalty against all medium and large ship hull, making them by 1/3 less effective. You can use eagle effectively against NPCs and earn money but the ship is just too weak for bigger tasks and PvP.

Eagle is fun to fly and good to practice combat, engine sound is weird but cockpit visibility is great. Bottom line is still there - it is entry level fighter which can earn you enough money to buy a viper in several hours of active combat game play - fastest being bounty hunting at extraction sites or nav beacons. Do not attempt to enter strong signal sources in an eagle if you expect some money return from it, but you can easily fly to weak and unidentified signal sources and kill small/medium NPCs there as well as interdict single ships in super-cruise or make a wing with friends and have fun - all that eagle cannot do alone it can accomplish in a wing, especially after you buy some upgrades - most important being power plant, power coupling, shields and hull reinforcements.

But Eagle is very cheap and losing it will not affect your credit balance that much.
